Vicke von Behr pursued studies in theater studies, economics, and Protestant theology. After completing his studies, he worked as an assistant director at theaters in Berlin and Bremen. Beginning in 1980, he underwent training in social pedagogy and worked with juvenile offenders.
Through reading the books of Emil Bock, he became acquainted with Anthroposophy and The Christian Community—the religious movement founded by Friedrich Rittelmeyer in collaboration with Rudolf Steiner. In 1987, he began his studies at The Christian Community’s seminary in Stuttgart. In 1992, he was ordained as a priest in Rostock and subsequently entrusted with the spiritual care of the Berlin-Wilmersdorf congregation. From 2001, he served as the Regional Leader of The Christian Community for Eastern Germany, and from 2002, he was a member of the Circle of Seven, the body governing the religious community. From 2005 onward, Vicke von Behr-Negendanck served as the Arch-Overleader of The Christian Community, succeeding Taco Bay. On June 3, 2021, he handed over the office of Arch-Overleader (comparable to that of a bishop) to his successor, João Torunsky.
